MCP server

Put my SharePoint and Copilot content inside your own AI.

This is a free, public MCP server for everything I publish on SharePoint, Microsoft 365 Copilot, Copilot Cowork, skills and agents. Add one URL to Claude, a Copilot Studio agent, VS Code or Cursor, and your AI can search my articles, read them in full and point you to the video, without you leaving the chat.

https://www.danielanderson.io/mcp

Free. Read-only. No sign in. Works with any client that supports remote MCP servers over Streamable HTTP.

What your agent gets

Five tools, all read-only.

Every new article is added automatically when the site publishes, so your agent always has the latest. Results come with links and dates, because Microsoft 365 changes fast and you'll want to know how current an answer is.

search_content

Searches every article and returns the best matches with links, dates and key takeaways.

get_article

Reads one article in full, including the FAQ and the videos that go with it.

list_articles

Lists articles newest first, filtered by topic (SharePoint, Copilot, AI) or by type (how-to, explainer, tested and more).

latest_videos

My most recent YouTube videos, with a link to the written version where there is one.

get_resources

The newsletter, the free Copilot-ready library checklist, my course and how to work with me.

Try asking

Once it's connected, just ask.

What does Daniel Anderson recommend before turning on SharePoint skills?
Why can't Copilot find my SharePoint documents? Use Daniel Anderson's articles.
What is SHAREPOINT.md and what should go in it?
What has Daniel Anderson published about Copilot Cowork recently?
Set it up

Pick your tool. It takes a minute.

Claude

  1. Go to Customize, then Connectors.
  2. Select + Add, then Add custom connector.
  3. Name it Daniel Anderson and paste the URL above, then Continue.
  4. For authentication, choose No sign in, then Add.
  5. In a chat, turn it on from + then Connectors.

Works on every Claude plan, including Free (one custom connector). On Team and Enterprise, an owner adds it in Organization settings first.

Copilot Studio

  1. Open your agent and go to Tools.
  2. Select Add a tool, New tool, then Model Context Protocol.
  3. Server name: Daniel Anderson. Description: Articles and videos on SharePoint, Microsoft 365 Copilot and AI.
  4. Paste the URL above as the Server URL and set authentication to None.
  5. Select Create, create a connection, then Add to agent.

Your Power Platform data policies apply to the connection like any other connector.

Claude Code

claude mcp add --transport http danielanderson https://www.danielanderson.io/mcp

VS Code

Add this to .vscode/mcp.json in your project:

{
  "servers": {
    "danielanderson": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://www.danielanderson.io/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Cursor

Add this to ~/.cursor/mcp.json:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "danielanderson": {
      "url": "https://www.danielanderson.io/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Anything else

Any MCP client that supports remote servers will work. Add it as a Streamable HTTP server with the URL above and no authentication.

Good to know

Does it cost anything?

No. The server is free and public, and there's nothing to sign up for. Any costs are on the AI tool side, the same as any other tool your agent calls.

Can it change anything in my tenant?

No. Every tool is read-only and only reads my published content. It never sees your files, mailbox or tenant, only the questions your agent sends it.

How current is it?

New articles are added automatically every time the site publishes, and latest_videos reads the YouTube channel feed directly. Every article result includes its published and updated dates.

Do you see what I search for?

I keep a log of the searches that come through, with no names or accounts attached, so I can see what people want to know about SharePoint and Copilot and write about it. Keep anything confidential out of your questions.
